The flood of 2012
The level of rain in this region is quite low. However, it is quite unfortunate that in 2012 rain fell for more than three days. February and March 2012 is not a memorable year for many residents of Leigh Creek. Heavy rains, which have never been experienced in that region, wreak havoc because of flooding.
The rain that led to the flooding fell for three straight days nonstop at about 260mm. The continuous rainfall caused the town to be placed under isolation because the Creek was run. Many properties were damaged as a result of the flooding.

As stated earlier, the precautionary measures include a proper waste management system, proper drainage system, adequate channels for the free passage of water, etc.
